A treasure trove of Nevada history inside an 1865 Schoolhouse

The Dayton Grammar School (1865), now the Dayton Museum, was built in 1865 and is the oldest school structure in Nevada still located at its original site. The museum is operated by the Historical Society of Dayton Valley.

DIRECTIONS:

At the traffic light on US-50 in Dayton, turn west onto Main St, passing the Railroad Depot lot.  Turn right onto Pike St.  Go 2 blocks and turn left onto Logan Alley.  The museum will be straight ahead at the intersection with Shady Lane.

Please note that Google Maps says to go another block on Main St and turn directly onto Shady Lane.  However, that section of Shady Lane is closed to traffic.

HOURS:
The Museum at is open on weekends from the beginning of March through the weekend before Thanksgiving in November — Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m. and on Sundays with private tours available by appointment. The Museum is entirely managed by volunteers and thanks to our docents, admission is free. Due to the COVID scare, volunteer docents are needed and will be trained by the curator or staff members.
